| Just north of Chattanooga on I-75 take
Hwy 64 East. Stay on this highway
past the Ocoee river and into North Carolina where Hwy 64 will become
Hwy 19/64/74. When you will pass through Murphy Hwy 64 will turn South and you
will need to stay on Hwy 19/74.
The drive to the entrance of Nantahala Mountain Resort is another 23 miles from the Wal-Mart in Murphy. Along the way you will pass by Murphy, Marble and Andrews. Outside of the town of Andrews, US Hwy 19/74 will narrow to a two-lane highway and proceed into the Nantahala Gorge (this is after 16 of the 23 miles). After another 6.5 of the 23 miles and just after the Topton Post Office, you will encounter the intersection of Hwy 19/74 and Hwy 129. Continue straight on Hwy 19/74 to the first road on the right, Franklin Branch Road, which is the entrance to Nantahala Mountain Resort. This trip will take you approximately 1 1/2 hours and is a beautifully scenic trip past the Ocoee river, through breathtaking parts of our National forestry and the mountains of Western North Carolina. |
